I grew up in West Virginia but moved to the Hocking Hills in the 1970’s and recently retired from Logan High School where I was a counselor and part-time photography instructor. I learned darkroom technique early on from a classmate at Marshall University, but didn’t get serious about photography until the mid 80’s when I took classes in the photography program at Ohio University.
Most of my work, whether it’s portraiture, conceptual or documentary, is related to this area or its ancient history and what I consider our primal and vital connection to the earth. I usually work in series and have a number of bodies of work that I continue to expand. The Hocking Hills Region is a rich and inspiring place to work as an artist.
